… for Hikers
Wanderweg The countryside around Vesser is criss-crossed with marked hiking paths which take you through meadows regions with rare plants or through majestic beech and conifer forests. You will pass by water springs and along natural mountain streams.
Numerous hiking paths lead you into the upper Vesser Valley (where you will find the Vesser spring, 10 Ponds and picnic area) or into the lower Vesser Valley (location of the Biospheric Preserve and Germany's biggest natural trench.
The Biospheric Nature Preserve "Vesser Valley" has an area of 17,000 hectares and a range of altitude between 420 and 982 metres over sea level.
All those who enjoy nature can experience it during every season and type of weather. It may happen that you hike for hours without seeing anyone at all.
There is a guide to hiking paths available which also describes aspects of the flora and fauna. You may choose between longer hikes with steeper ascents or shorter hikes with less change in altitude.
Some paths are suitable for disabled individuals in wheelchairs. Very close to Vesser runs the most famous mountain ridge hiking path in Germany, the  Rennsteig.
